The Guest Lecture Series are professional talks delivered by invited guest speakers on art, design, and related visual practices. Organized by the Advanced Studio Practice program at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD), the 2023 lectures will be hosted at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, RBC Room (Fredericton). These noon-hour sessions celebrate the creative, cultural, and academic achievements of artists, designers, and fine craft practitioners in New Brunswick. The purpose of the Guest Lecture Series is to model successful contemporary practice to our students while informing, inspiring, and igniting art and design dialogue and engagement in the greater public community. The series is free and open to the public, including admission and access to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

How I Became a Drag Queen and a Fiber Artist in NB
Annabelle Babineau transitioned from a full-time non-profit worker with a part-time drag career to a full-time multidisciplinary artist in New Brunswick. You can catch Barbra Wire, her drag character, all over the Maritimes performing Acadian and Anglophone drag and sporting handmade crochet looks. She is also working on a Canada Council for the Arts fibre project to showcase queer traditional Acadian crafts.

Advanced Studio Practice’s Guest Lecture Series is partnering with the Atlantic Centre for Creativity to provide a virtual experience to the annual series. The purpose of the Guest Lecture Series is to model successful contemporary practice to our students and to inform, inspire and ignite art and design dialogue and engagement in the greater public community. They are professional talks delivered by invited guest speakers on art, design and related visual practices. This series is sponsored by the Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation.
The ASP Guest Lecture Series focuses on New Brunswick and provides:
A platform for the presentation and advancement of professional artists, designers and fine craft practitioners.
A time for dialogue about ideas and opportunities in the fields of contemporary practice.
A celebration of creative and cultural riches that we hold in Atlantic Canada.
These noon-hour sessions celebrate the creative, cultural and academic achievements of artists, designers and fine craft practitioners.
